What is a brand? One of the best explanations I’ve heard is ” a brand is a set of values and perceptions we hold about a product or service and the promise that product or service makes and then delivers on those promises”.

So you must be wondering, why I’m talking about brands? Simple. I believe that every individual needs to think of themselves as an amazing brand, much like Microsoft, Apple, Coca Cola etc. Defining yourself as a brand allows you determine what are your core values, what makes you great, why are you worth the investment and what are you able to deliver better than anyone else? These ideals can help you to differentiate yourself; whether looking for a career or to better leverage the one you have, to allow your customers or your team to better understand your true value, how to better manage upwards in your business environment or to just to keep you focused on what’s important in living a better balanced life at home.

You can start by asking yourself a few fundamental questions:
1. What makes me unique? (your USP)
2. What do i do better than anyone else? (your benefits, expertise)
3. Who can benefit from what I have to offer? (your target market)
4. What is my mission? (your life and business strategy)
5. How accurately do I reflect and present my own ” personal brand ” (by way of my communication, appearance and conduct)?
